Description
Make the Case: How to Present Design Ideas That Spark Action. Many designers believe they know what their organization needs to fix and are fed up with their team not solving problems. They are confident that their ideas will make a difference, but they don’t know how to articulate it in a way that managers will take action on. When they pitch their proposal, it’s treated as a regular proposal and doesn’t get funded. The same thing happens with work that has already been done; when a designer uses terms like user friction, management postpones it until later and nothing changes. It’s not a design problem, it’s a translation problem, and that’s why good ideas get lost. The user experience manager at Ford says that selling and advocating for design is 50 to 60 percent of a designer’s job. This course provides frameworks for turning design decisions into business results and introduces AI workflows for time management. The program is based on thirteen years of experience delivering design in environments where the value of design was not recognized and has been tested with thirty-two leaders from major companies such as Target, Ford, Masterbrand, Meta, and Amazon. The course consists of eight sessions over four weeks, and designers learn how to build a case for each action and make recommendations that managers can’t ignore.
